So after a fellow gym buddy recommended a barbershop to me. I decided to give them a shot. I can say that Big D's did a good job. Friendly place and good people there. The Katie who cut my beard did a fantastic. I can say I am happy with the outcome. If you are look for a barbershop where everyone can feel welcome this is your spot. Plus for the price you easily get your money worth. I will be be soon to get my beard cut again and maybe a straight razor head shave

Walking into Big D’s barbershop, I felt a wave of anxiety wash over me. Social situations can be a challenge for me, especially when my bipolar disorder makes me feel mentally unsafe. But instead of letting that anxiety take over, I arrived early, plugged in my headphones and played music, and took a moment to center myself. As I began to relax, I realized that this barbershop is more than just a place to get a haircut—it's a sanctuary where I can truly be myself.

The transformation was remarkable. With each laugh and smile shared with Rikku and his fantastic coworkers, I could feel the joy bubbling up inside me. This is a place where I felt safe and loved, and for that, I am incredibly grateful. Living with mental health struggles often leaves me feeling isolated, but here, I found acceptance and warmth.

Rikku, with his incredible talent, worked his magic on my head and beard, making me feel absolutely stunning just in time for the holidays and my family’s Thanksgiving visit. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling good, and this barbershop delivers on both fronts.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a space that embraces not just my mental health challenges, but my queer identity as well. Big D’s barbershop is a haven for anyone seeking connection and understanding. It’s a magical place that revitalizes both your mental well-being and your appearance, all while surrounded by genuinely kind people.

Rikku gave me, with full sincerity, the best cut and beard trim I have gotten in my life. He is incredibly friendly and bubbly while showcasing his professionalism through his craft.
I mentioned to him that I typically don’t care about my haircuts or how to manage my beard, so I let him do what he thought would look best. He asked me if I had anything I absolutely didn’t like and then got to work! He took some time to give me tips to maintain my beard and hair without missing a beat or taking any more time than necessary.
After looking at the mirror, he made me into a believer that hair care can give me a big boost in my own self confidence, which I think is shown by my big dumb smile from the cut.

Thank you Rikku! I would absolutely highly recommend him and Big D’s for the unique and welcoming experience. Well worth a visit!

This gorgeous barber shop somehow manages to simultaneously have a traditional/old-school kind of vibe but also have a fresh, modern, fun and clean look and feel. I've been to a lot of barbers in my life but never been to one with a better aesthetic.

As for the service: It was an 11/10.

I was in town to attend a memorial service for a good friend last Saturday afternoon, and I only slowed down enough to realize what a hot mess my hair was with 55 minutes left until the service began. I headed into town with my expectations fairly low, and the first two shops I stopped at were a no-go: One wasn't open at all, and the other was minutes from opening but said he was already booked solid for the entire day. He graciously suggested Big D's, which was only a short walk from there.

As soon as I entered Big D's, I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Cody. I couldn't help but feels but self conscious about sitting down for a haircut given that my head was soaked in sweat from all the heat and activity, soI warned him about that, but he seemed totally unfazed and said it was no problem.

Cody proved to be a master of his craft. He made polite smalltalk, asking what I had going on that day, and that provided my opportunity to mention my fairly tight timeline--and was very efficient and yet still personable, and very kind and compassionate upon hearing about my family's loss. He threaded the needle, so to speak, as he managed to be just the right level of empathetic, but also wielded a sharp wit and fantastic sense of humor, and kept the mood light without ever seeming flippant or inappropriately bubbly.

My only regret is that I live more than 2 hours away, so my future opportunities to return to this shop will be few. That in mind, I felt that the least I could do to express my satisfaction and appreciation would be to join the long list of other people who have rated this shop so highly over the years. I promise you: this shop's impeccable rating is completely deserved. Just go see for yourself.

I went here for the first time a few months ago and I'm hooked, haven't gotten anywhere else for a haircut since the atmosphere is amazing. And you can really tell the barbers here take true pride in their work, always a friendly conversation to be had. I've been getting my haircuts from Katie and no matter how long uts been since the last time I'm there she always remembers exactly who I am how I want my hair, and we're always able to pickup on the conversation we had last time.

Jason did an excellent job. I booked last minute and he was able to accommodate. I recommend getting to your appointment early if possible when he is booked back to back. Jason was very friendly, professional and did such an amazing job on my fade. He took excellent attention to detail on my hard part and really every little detail of the cut. I highly recommend Big D's and will be a returning customer. A++++

Jason hands down earned my continued business today, because of him this will be my new go to for the foreseeable future. I called into Big D's after my previous barber told me she is no longer in the business, and being a super picky client I was concerned this now meant I'd have to struggle another year to find a barber I liked. Not the case with Jason. Big D let me know that walk-ins were welcome (couldn't say the same for the other guys in town) and when I went in we were warmly greeted by multiple people, and they were super attentive asking if we wanted a drink and just generally chatting with us. Jason welcomed me up and immediately made me feel calm as he was willing to look over the photos of my previous cut, and told me "yeah, no problem!" And got right into it. Jason was so incredibly kind, he spoke with both me and my partner the entire time. All throughout the session he was checking if I was comfortable, how I liked the cut, and was polite and beyond friendly. Jason shared stories of his Daughter, and his struggle through Covid. We really connected talking about our kids, and I don't think he could have done a better job at making it a personable experience. To top it off, I got a straight shave and a massage with heated towell, the classic and true barber experience. At the end after paying and chatting some more Jason shared a beautiful photo of him and his daughter, and it really set the stage that this is a true family man just trying to take care of his kids and do the best dang job he can, and boy does he! I will absolutely be back, and I will make sure to personally request Jason every time, wait or no wait, Big D's is a hospitable, true original, and brings a bit of decency and community back to what feels like such a distanced society. It all starts with a clean shave and fresh perspective folks. Thank you Big D and Jason, my haircut looks killer and you'll be taking care of this ginger from now on!
